Steven Gorelick holds the Cyrus F. Tolman chaired professorship in the Department of Earth System Science and Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford University. At Stanford since 1988, he runs the Hydro Program and directs the Global Freshwater Initiative. His interdisciplinary approach analyzes coupled human-natural-engineered systems to evaluate water-supply vulnerability and freshwater security solutions in stressed regions throughout the world. His many publications and three books are widely cited. Professor Gorelick is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering as well as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and he is the recipient of Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships.
